Mykonos Beaches

Mykonos has many beautiful beaches most of them offering restaurants, tavenas, snack bars with sunbeds and parasols for hire. The main beaches get very busy in high season, so if you like a little peace aim to get to the beach early before the crowds arrive.
Most of the beaches are on the southern side of the island, these bays are protected from the winds and are all sandy. The beaches on the northern coast are less busy and are perfect if you are looking for a more quiet and relaxed day, however they are often affected by the winds which can be very strong particularly in august.

Plati Gialos - lovely sandy beach, good restaurants and facilities. Very busy beach most of the summer even off season.

Psarou - one of the best beaches on the island, great restaurants and facilities, popular with the trendy set but busy.

Paradise and Super Paradise - these are two of the most popular party beaches, some nude bathing and popular with the young and lively.  Super paradise is a  popular gay beach.

Elia - one of the longest beaches on Mykonos, wide choice of tavernas and bars as well as water sports facilities.

Lia - great beach but a little harder to find, lovely sand and perfect swimming. Fishermans Taverna with fresh fish.

Paranga
- two sandy bays with headland in the middle, the southern beach is quieter, while the northern beach has full facilities, good taverna.

Agia Anna - small bay near Paranga, quiet lovely beach, no sun loungers.

Agrari -  just beyond Elia beach, another great sandy beach.

Ornos - small holiday resort, good beach for families with all facilities.

Agios Ioannis
- considered to be the best beach on this side of the island, soft sand crystal clear sea.

Aghios Stefanos - the nearest beach to Mykonos town, good sandy beach with facilities, protected from the winds.

Kalafatis - lovely bay, good taverna, popular with windsurfers, also a diving school.

Panormas - beautiful bay and very clear water, not so busy and has ultra trendy beach bar restaurant.

There are also a number of smaller bays and quieter beaches that are mainly in the areas  affected by the strong winds that prevail around the cycladic islands, to visit these beaches you will have to have your own transport as they have no local transport services.
